Job summary

FlatironDragados is seeking an Area Operations Manager for Data Centers in the United States. You will lead and deliver large-scale civil infrastructure projects across multiple geographic areas, overseeing site development, earthwork, concrete, utilities, paving, and related scopes often via joint ventures with a vertical data center builder.

Collaborate with industry experts to ensure superior results while maintaining top safety standards and financial targets.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction.
• 10+ years of experience managing construction teams.
• Bachelor’s Degree a plus.
• Experience in heavy civil, site development or greenfield industrial/mission critical projects, including construction, business and financial risk management.
• Excellent client relationship management skills.
• Expert knowledge of complex construction means and methods, especially heavy civil and infrastructure work.
• Proven ability to manage claims process and negotiate with Owners' representatives.
• Proven ability to lead multiple teams from different functions toward a common goal.
• Solid understanding of corporate policies and procedures.
• Ability to identify top talent and implement growth opportunities and trainings.
• Flexibility for frequent travel (>50%) due to project locations.

Responsibilities

• Builds and maintains strong relationships with project owners, owners’ representatives, and JV partners.
• Coordinates staffing with local leadership, project teams, and HR.
• Ensures notices, change orders, disputes, and claims are actively managed.
• Monitors monthly project schedule and ensures alignment with timelines.
• Monitors quantities, costs, and budgets to ensure profitability.
• Maximizes opportunities and minimizes risk across projects.
• Conducts monthly financial review meetings and ensures timely billing.
• Manages schedule of values and ensures proper payment mechanisms.
• Coordinates with regulatory agencies for permitting and compliance.
• Leads procurement of subcontractors and vendors.
• Engages with safety, finance, project controls, equipment, engineering, design, and HR.
