Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers seeks a Maintenance Program Manager for the Virginia Department of Transportation in Virginia. You will plan, develop, deliver and operate maintenance programs across districts, ensuring schedules and budgets are met and safety standards followed.

You will manage budgets, forecast expenditures, direct field crews, review contracts, and respond to customer concerns while maintaining inventory, equipment, and safety programs to support reliable highway operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with highway construction and maintenance equipment, materials and methods.
• Experience supervising staff and managing budgets.
• Reading road and bridge sketches.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, deliver and operate all aspects of the Area Headquarters maintenance program in compliance with schedules and budgets.
• Budget and business management: forecast expenditures and manage cost documents for labor, equipment, materials and progress.
• Complaint resolution: address customer concerns and coordinate with stakeholders on service issues.
• Direct pavement and sign marking crews: manage schedules, quantities and contract work within deadlines and budgets.
• Emergency operations: guide area maintenance operations including incident management and snow/hurricane readiness.
• Inventory control: maintain stock levels, IMS processes and ensure timely purchases and audits.
• Job safety: manage safety programs and promote a safe work environment.
• Program management: monitor contracts and inspect roads for maintenance needs and reporting.
