Job summary

Sunrise Senior Living in the New York area is seeking an Area Human Resources Manager to lead HR strategy and operations across multiple communities, ensuring strong recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and team member engagement.

This role requires regular travel between Long Island locations (Holbrook, Smithtown, East Setauket, Dix Hills, West Babylon) with 3–4 onsite days per week, partnering with leaders to optimize performance, policy training, and employee relations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years HR experience (senior living or healthcare preferred).
• Supervisory and employee relations experience.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance practices.
• Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
• High integrity and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle recruitment, job fairs, and hiring processes.
• Ensure compliance with Sunrise Hiring Standards and employment laws.
• Lead onboarding, orientation, and system access for new team members.
• Maintain HRIS, ATS, personnel files, and regulatory documentation.
• Manage unemployment and workers' compensation claims.
• Serve as HR partner to department leaders on performance management.
• Lead employee relations matters and internal investigations.
• Drive team member engagement initiatives and action planning.
• Deliver HR systems and policy training for front-line staff.
• Maintain audit readiness and complete monthly compliance controls (MKCC).
