Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. seeks an Area Environmental Manager to oversee landfill budgets, capex spending, and regulatory compliance across the Area.

You will lead Environmental Managers, Environmental Specialists and Technicians, supervise performance, coordinate forecasting, and support acquisitions and investor relations. The ideal candidate has 6 years in landfill engineering or environmental compliance and 2 years of leadership, with strong communication, project management and analytical

Qualifications

• 6 years of progressive responsibility in the waste or excavation / civil construction industry that includes management.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations related to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery/recycling.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal communication across organization levels and with external stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong analytical skills and a focus on adding value to the Company.
• Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders to gain support for ideas and goals.
• Champions and manages change to implement organizational improvements.

Responsibilities

• Leads Environmental Managers in preparing landfill construction and ongoing budgets and cost tracking.
• Manages the Engineering Budget Model (EBM) schedule and process.
• Coordinates monthly EM forecasting and provides capex summaries.
• Oversees Area construction projects and capacity calculations, scheduling, and material coordination.
• Performs site visits to identify improvements and recommends actions.
• Oversees permit applications and regulatory interfaces for operating plans and site changes.
• Leads cross-functional teams in gathering and evaluating operational, environmental, and financial data.
• Participates in acquisitions review, Phase I assessments, and proforma modeling.
• Engages with corporate, regulators, consultants and investors in PR and due diligence.
