Position Summary

The Area Construction Manager (ACM) manages construction managers to ensure homes are built to FAH quality and standards. This role will directly supervise a portion of the Division’s Construction Manager group, ensuring they are properly trained and highly effective. The ACM ensures performance metrics are met or exceeded across categories such as construction schedule adherence, production, quality, customer satisfaction, customer service, profit and loss, and safety compliance. The ACM routinely inspects neighborhoods to ensure company guidelines and standards are followed, while also developing their team. The ACM recruits, develops, manages, leads, and motivates their team to achieve strategic business plans and metrics, operating under our Safety 1st Culture.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  1. Walk every home, every room weekly to inspect and ensure standards are met.
  2. Assume overall responsibility for the construction of homes in their territory.
  3. Recruit and train construction managers to meet strategic goals.
  4. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and processes.
  5. Inspect neighborhoods and homes daily to maintain high standards in cleanliness, quality, schedule adherence, and safety.
  6. Monitor daily progress to meet production goals and resolve challenges.
  7. Maintain open communication with the home office, leadership, and sales teams.
  8. Provide weekly updates to the VP of Construction on key metrics.
  9. Evaluate construction methods and job specifications for quality assurance.
  10. Hold weekly meetings to ensure accurate and timely home closings and team engagement.
  11. Attend community meetings to promote communication and team effectiveness.
  12. Train new division construction managers and lead agenda in monthly builder meetings.
  13. Align subcontractors to meet production and quality demands.
  14. Drive continuous improvement in all performance metrics.
Experience & Skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • People skills to handle conflicts professionally with customers, inspectors, and trades.
  • Deep knowledge of construction materials and methods with attention to quality.
  • Experience with electronic scheduling platforms and field operations tools like iPad.
  • At least 2 years of management experience in residential construction over a territory.
  • Minimum of 6 years residential construction experience in a high-production environment.
  • Ability to promote accountability among managers and trades.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, or push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel to multiple sites where conditions vary.
