Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a dynamic FMCG client to hire an Area Business Manager to lead operations in the Welkom region. You will develop regional business plans, expand market share, manage distributor relationships, and ensure effective execution of sales and marketing strategies.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to analyze data, manage a regional budget, and collaborate with marketing, supply chain, and finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
• MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive experience in sales and business management, preferably within the FMCG industry.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth in a regional capacity.
• Strong understanding of distribution channels, retail operations, and consumer markets in South Africa.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and motivational skills.
• Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in sales forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis using CRM and data analytics tools.
• Ability to think strategically and translate plans into actionable steps.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the designated region.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute regional business plans to achieve sales targets and profitability.
• Manage distributor, wholesaler, and retail partner relationships for product availability and visibility.
• Lead and motivate a field sales team with coaching and performance management.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback for opportunities.
• Implement national sales and marketing strategies at regional level and adapt to local conditions.
• Control regional sales budget and allocate resources efficiently.
• Analyze sales data and metrics to identify improvements and drive growth.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical practices.
• Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, and finance to support regional objectives.
• Report on regional performance and insights to senior management.
