Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a Paraprofessional - Campus/Instructional Assistant to provide instructional support and supervise students in various classroom settings, ensuring continuity of instruction during ARD meetings. The role emphasizes safety, behavior management, and collaboration with teachers.

You will assist with reading, writing, and math instruction, support students with diverse needs including those with disabilities, and help implement lesson plans while maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to assist in instruction of reading, writing, and math.
• Ability to work with diverse students, including students with disabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage for teachers attending ARD committee meetings.
• Assist in implementing teacher-directed lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Help students master instructional materials and reinforce learning concepts.
• Provide support to students receiving special education services, including implementation of accommodations and modifications as directed.
• Help manage student behavior and maintain a structured learning environment.
• Monitor students during assigned periods to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
• Assist with transitions, routines, and supervision of students in various settings.
• Work with individual students or small groups to support learning and engagement.
• Adapt to various classroom assignments, including general education and special education settings.
• Assist with instructional materials and classroom organization as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Participate in staff development and training as required.
• Follow district safety protocols and campus procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
