Job summary

Qavvik is seeking a Ramp Agent for Kotzebue, Alaska. The role involves delivering safe, efficient ground support for passenger, baggage, cargo, aircraft, and facility operations in Arctic conditions.

You will work with flight crews, Customer Service, Ops Control, and maintenance to ensure aircraft are prepared for departure and serviced on arrival. The job emphasizes safety, teamwork, and independent work in demanding weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving history.
• Ability to obtain and maintain airport identification, security credentials, and driving privileges.
• Ability to complete required safety, security, HAZMAT, equipment, and ramp training.
• Ability to safely work around aircraft, vehicles, machinery, and ground‑support equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, flight crews, passengers, and customers.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Previous aviation, airport, warehouse, freight, cargo, or similar experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Marshal aircraft into and out of designated parking areas when trained and authorized.
• Assist with aircraft arrival, parking, securing, and departure.
• Install and remove wheel chocks, cones, covers, plugs, and other ground equipment as appropriate.
• Assist flight crews with aircraft loading and unloading.
• Maintain awareness of hazards around ramp and aircraft operations.
• Report safety concerns or damage to supervisor or flight crew.
• Assist with positioning aircraft within hangar or parking areas when trained.
• Assist with approved aircraft ground‑support activities.
• Load and unload passenger baggage, freight, and other cargo.
• Transport baggage and cargo between aircraft, hangar, terminal, and storage locations.
• Weigh baggage and cargo and provide accurate weights.
• Assist with sorting, staging, palletizing, and securing cargo.
• Ensure baggage and cargo are routed to correct aircraft or storage location.
• Provide courteous passenger assistance and support mobility needs.
• Assist with aircraft cleaning, cabin preparation, and fuel activities when authorized.
