Job summary

North Slope Borough seeks a Fuel & Natural Gas Systems Manager to oversee operations and maintenance of its fuel and gas systems in Varies, AK. The role ensures reliable, safe, and cost-effective energy services supporting public health, safety, and welfare.

The incumbent will lead safety, budgeting, regulatory filings, and program development while coordinating with divisions, villages, and regulatory agencies. Alaska experience and CDL eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with six years related experience; Arctic environment preferred.
• Licenses: Alaska Driver’s License; ability to obtain Alaska Commercial Driver's License within six months.
• IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-400, IS-700, IS-800 within 2 years of hire; CPR, AED and First Aid within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and oversee operational, maintenance, and safety activities of Fuel and Gas functions within Utilities.
• Develop and enforce policies for safe handling, storage, and distribution of fuel and natural gas.
• Assist in budgeting, monitor expenditures, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee procurement, contracts, and vendor management to ensure contract terms.
• Develop emergency response, risk mitigation, and energy efficiency initiatives.
