Job summary

NANA Management Services seeks an ATAC Weather Observer to ensure safe operations and weather-related aviation safety at the Kuparuk oil field in Alaska. You will communicate weather conditions, brief pilots, and coordinate runway readiness for Q400 flights in a remote Arctic environment.

The role requires FAA Weather Observer certification, a high school diploma or GED, and at least one year of related experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year ATAC Weather Observer experience.
  • FAA Weather Observer certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record for past 3 years.
  • Proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide current local aviation weather updates to aircraft near Kuparuk Airport.
  • Provide current aviation weather briefings to pilots operating into and out of Kuparuk Airport.
  • Ensure the Kuparuk Runway and Q400 ground operations are prepared for scheduled flights and safe runway conditions.
  • Provide arrival and departure passenger and baggage information to the Kuparuk Security Ground Support Operations or other agencies.
  • Monitor the tundra around the runway to prevent animal incursions.
  • Conduct required hourly Aviation Weather Observations (METARs) and Special Weather Observations as required by FAA JO 7900.
  • Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met.
  • Coordinate with Marshall and ground crew to facilitate aircraft parking and safe vehicle movement on the apron.
