Job summary

University of Minnesota Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections seeks a Project Coordinator to oversee collection moves and preparation for the Fire Suppression System construction. Duties include planning, metadata updates in ArchivesSpace, labeling shelves, and coordinating with movers, with supervision of temporary staff.

The role is 1 year full-time with potential extension, primarily on-site at Andersen Library, with occasional hybrid flexibility and university approval.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree plus 4+ years archival experience.
  • Experience with processing, arrangement, and description of archival collections.
  • Familiarity with archival metadata standards.
  • Ability to work independently and with colleagues.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to move boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience with ArchivesSpace CMS.

Responsibilities

  • Archival Collection Management: Survey collections for moves, update guides with location metadata, create location data, label shelves, act as on-site contact for movers, map collections to storage, coordinate moves and rehousing, ensure correct storage locations, supervise temporary staff, support planning for fire system installation, coordinate with Temp/Cas employees for moves.
  • Project Administration: Manage documentation and statistics, develop work plans and milestones, contribute to committees, improve workflows, make preservation/metadata recommendations, participate in internal training.
