Job summary

Wisconsin Historical Society on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus seeks an Archives Metadata Assistant to edit archival catalog records in Alma and OCLC, and to export and edit finding aids in ArchivesSpace and oXygen.

This on-campus, part-time student role involves making contents lists for processed collections and other duties as assigned, with a focus on accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. Work between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: currently in a library or archives graduate program.
  • Experience inputting and editing metadata.
  • Experience with MARC21 in OCLC, Alma, or other cataloging systems.
  • Experience with markup in EAD, XML, or HTML.
  • Experience with ArchivesSpace or other information management system.
  • Experience with oXygen or other markup editor programs.

Responsibilities

  • Edit archival catalog records in the local (Alma) and national (OCLC) catalogs.
  • Export and edit finding aids in ArchivesSpace and oXygen.
  • May make contents lists for processed collections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position will work closely with the Coordinator of Library and Archives Metadata Archivist. The main duties for the Archives Metadata Assistant will be to edit archival catalog records in the local (Alma) and national (OCLC) catalogs; export and edit finding aids in ArchivesSpace and oXygen. The Archives Assistant may also make contents lists for processed collections, and other duties as assigned.
