Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction (DECM) seeks an Architectural Technician II (NS) to support development, review, and coordination of architectural tasks for facilities, focusing on life-safety, accessibility, energy efficiency, egress, and space planning under supervision.

The role provides exposure to plan development, investigations, and project documentation within a structured design and construction environment, with opportunities toward architectural licensure in North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an appropriately accredited institution.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Five years of planning and design, cost estimating, and inspection experience on large-scale construction/renovation projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop drawings, specifications, estimates, and related project documents.
• Conduct field investigations for building envelopes, roofs, and other systems.
• Coordinate with supervisors and senior architects on design approaches and technical requirements.
• Support planning, scoping, and budgeting for construction and renovation projects.
• Maintain project records and reference materials for ongoing work.
• Participate in routine project management tasks to track schedules and deliverables.
• Engage in training toward architectural licensure in North Carolina.
