Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in architecture or architectural engineering from NAAB/ABET-accredited school.
At least 10 years of experience with the International Building Code and ADA/ABA standards.
At least 5 years of experience managing people.
Extensive experience with architectural plan reviews, including accessibility.
Knowledge of ICC I-Codes, NFPA, ABA, ASHRAE, ASME, ANSI standards.

Responsibilities

Perform code enforcement reviews, inspections, and architectural and accessibility plan reviews.
Review construction feasibility and code compliance, provide comments, and ensure sustainability and reliability.
Address complaints, violations, and disputes; maintain accurate records of code violations and actions taken.
Document deficiencies and prepare detailed reports with observations, enforcement actions, and code references.
Maintain deficiency records and provide weekly status briefings.
Interpret, explain, and enforce construction codes, standards, and regulations for clients, contractors, architects, and engineers.
Conduct pre-construction site walks to identify architectural and accessibility issues and document findings.
Perform as-built/redline document reviews to verify changes and accuracy.
Assist with code development and implementation and provide technical advice on building-project compliance.
Witness and document code-compliance tests and record non-compliance issues.
Provide design support, investigate accessibility complaints, and support accessibility task forces under the government's Building Code Official.
Support clients across multiple concurrent new and existing construction projects.
Work a hybrid schedule with regular Arlington HQ attendance, work from home, and travel to D.C. Metro Area client sites.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance based on customer and project requirements
Bachelor's degree in architecture or architectural engineering from an NAAB or ABET-accredited university or college
At least 10 years of experience with the International Building Code and ADA/ABA accessibility standards
At least 5 years of experience managing people
Extensive experience conducting architectural plan reviews, including accessibility-related reviews
Comprehensive knowledge of ICC I-codes, NFPA codes, ABA Accessibility Standards, ASHRAE Standards, ASME Standards, and ANSI Standards
Track record of client satisfaction in mission-critical facilities and analyzing, troubleshooting, optimizing, and upgrading integrated systems in aging facilities and campus environments
Proficiency with construction project management software and mobile devices
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams, MS Project, and PowerPoint
Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to travel to various work sites
Must be able to walk construction sites with uneven surfaces, carry up to 25 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, and work indoors/outdoors in severe weather, confined spaces, and dust-generating environments
Must maintain spatial awareness and comply with safety standards near mechanical and electrical building equipment and systems
Must be able to wear PPE where required
Preferred: active Secret or higher security clearance
Preferred: expertise in building envelope design and construction requirements
Preferred: SCIF construction and ICD/ICS 705 technical specifications experience
Preferred: Construction Quality Management experience
Preferred: RA or PE license, NCARB registration
Preferred: UFC and UFGS experience
