Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned Architect for leadership in BIM-enabled project delivery in Illinois. You will lead architectural document prep, coordinate with consultants, and drive building detailing across multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires 10+ years in commercial architecture, licensure, and strong knowledge of building codes. Expect travel, client meetings, and active BIM implementation to optimize workflows and project outcomes.

Qualifications

Architectural License is required.
10 years of professional experience in commercial architecture.
Well-versed knowledge of building codes and accessibility codes.
Proficient with Revit and BIM software.
Strong organization and communication skills.
Willing to travel.
NCARB certification preferred.
Multiple State Architectural Licenses preferred.
LEED AP credential preferred.
WELL AP credential preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead preparation of architectural construction documents.
Coordinate and review outsourced civil, mechanical, electrical, and interior departments and consultants.
Demonstrate strong construction-document and building-detailing expertise.
Support BIM management across the studio.
Prepare working drawings.
Coordinate with the Design Architect on project design.
Coordinate with Project Executives, Marketing, and Business Development on project delivery.
Lead client design meetings during appropriate project phases.
Coordinate with local project AHJs.
Submit drawings for permits and manage the permit process through approval.
Prepare clarifications of project development documents.
Assist with Contract Change Orders.
Assist with checking shop drawings, reviewing submittals, and responding to RFIs
Make field trips as necessary to verify information
Coordinate with engineering and specification writers
Assist in preparing specifications
Apply building regulations to projects
Perform detailing necessary to complete projects on schedule and within budget
Mentor junior staff with the Director of Production
Support implementation of BIM and related add-on software, parametric content, library files, and templates
Work with architecture, interior design, and external design partners to execute project BIM strategies and improve workflows
Guide and train in-house personnel on new add-on software and provide technical orientation to new studio hires
Manage and evaluate Revit and related BIM software tools and updates
Interface with IT on hardware/software interactions and implementation of BIM products
Support coordination of multiple projects simultaneously with the Director of Design Operations

Requirements

Architectural License required

Proficient in Revit
Experience with multi-story buildings
