Job summary

Hill International, Inc. seeks an Architectural Inspector in Houston to observe construction daily for compliance with drawings, specs, RFIs, and submittals. You will issue reports, attend alternate-hour installations, and ensure quality across architectural and structural systems.

Responsibilities include managing NCRs, maintaining project docs on PWS/Unifier, and coordinating with stakeholders in planning meetings while staying current on applicable codes and standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in project/construction management or 10+ years in related construction trades with 1 year supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, construction sciences or related field.
• ICC certification by discipline is suggested.
• Knowledge of architectural details, partition ratings, finishes, and doors.

• Issue Observation Reports with references to drawings and specifications.
• Attend early morning, evening, or after-hours installations as owner representative; flexible hours required.
• Provide quality control and inspection for architectural and structural systems.
• Track NCRs on PWS or Unifier and follow up.
• Prepare inspection reports on PWS and Unifier.
• Maintain on-site project documentation including inspection/test reports, RFIs, ASIs, and change documents on PWS/Unifier.
• Attend pre-construction and regular onsite construction meetings; pre-outage planning meetings.
• Monitor as-builts and punch lists; review and verify completion of deficiencies on PWS.
• Stay current with IBC, NFPA 101, TDLR, OSHA, ADA, ASHRAE 90.1, SWPPP, and building-specific requirements.
• Interface with Sr Inspector and support users, campus operations, architects, engineers, contractors, utilities, and regulators to resolve conflicts.

Hill International is seeking an Architectural Inspector in Houston, Texas.

• Conduct daily observations of construction work for compliance with approved contract drawings, specifications, Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Orders, and approved submittals and shop drawings.
• Issue Observation Reports noting conditions of non-compliance, with proper references to detailed drawings and specifications sections. Project portfolio: 1 project, average value $10M-$50M.
• Attend early morning, evening, or after-hours installations (e.g., concrete pours) requiring owner representation; flexible hours are required for construction observations.
• Provide quality control and inspection expertise in the area of architectural and structural systems.
• Track and follow up on Non-Compliance Reports (NCRs) on Project Work Space (PWS) or Unifier.
• Prepare reports of inspections on PWS and Unifier.
• Maintain and organize on-site project documentation, including inspection and test reports, RFIs, Architect’s Supplemental Instructions (ASIs), and project change control documents on PWS or Unifier.
• Attend pre-construction meetings and regular onsite construction meetings.
• Attend pre-outage planning meetings.
• Monitor as-builts and punch lists. Review punch lists for above ceiling, open wall, and Substantial Completion inspections, and revisit to confirm completion of deficiencies on PWS.
• Stay current in codes and regulations applicable to design and construction, including International Building Codes, NFPA 101, TDLR, OSHA, ADA, ASHRAE 90.1, SWPPP, and any special requirements of the building type (e.g., healthcare, research labs, special campus project types, etc.).
• Interface with MDA Sr Inspector and provide support to users, campus operations, architects, engineers, contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies to assist with resolution of conflicts as directed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3years of project management and construction management experience or 10 years of experience in the related construction trade, including one year of supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, construction sciences, or other construction-related field.
• ICC Certified (by discipline e.g., plumber, electrical) is suggested.
• Knowledge of architectural details, partition ratings, finishes, and doors.
