Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Architectural Designer to lead building design on diverse infrastructure projects. You’ll collaborate with architects, engineers, planners, and specialists to deliver high-impact designs for water, transit, and federal facilities.

You will mentor junior staff, explore new materials and technologies, and ensure code compliance across projects, with travel as required. A Bachelor's in Architecture and 5 years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and 5 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on project demands.

Responsibilities

• Plan, program, and formulate building design and prepare design documents.
• Coordinate design documents with architectural and multi-discipline engineering staff.
• Mentor and guide junior architectural staff on multi-discipline projects.
• Research and select construction materials, technologies and detailing methods.
• Ensure compliance with planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations.
• Collect background project information and documentation including as-built data and field observations.
• Review technical submittals for projects under construction.
