Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks an Architectural Designer 2 to design, review, and oversee facilities statewide. You will prepare documents, coordinate with engineers, and support design development for parks, buildings, and public facilities across the Commonwealth.

Responsibilities include evaluating safety and standards, collecting site data, and assisting with inspections. Flexible schedule with potential telework and a standard 7:00 AM–3:30 PM workday; residency in PA is required.

Qualifications

• One year as an Architectural Designer 1 or two years of professional architectural experience with a relevant degree.
• Bachelor's degree in architecture or architectural engineering or closely related field.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training in architectural design.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for construction and renovation projects.
• Review architectural and building work for accuracy, compliance, safety, and alignment with agency standards.
• Collect measurements, site data, and mapping information to support design development.
• Assess construction progress, evaluate compliance with contract documents, and assist with inspections.
• Review proposals, evaluate documents, and monitor project deliverables in coordination with contracted designers.
• Provide guidance on architectural questions, permitting issues, and design challenges to staff.
