MAAS Companies is seeking a Design Manager for LAUSD Facilities Services Division projects in California. You will lead the design process from programming through construction documents, directing architecture/engineering teams to meet budget, schedule, and standards.
You will coordinate with DSA and district staff, review design changes, and report on planning and design status. A California registration or PE license and strong writing skills are preferred; ESOP ownership is part of the
LAUSD's Facilities Services Division plans, designs, and builds the District's new schools, modernizations, and repair projects. As Design Manager, you manage the District's design process on your assigned projects, so that every set of plans stays inside the program, the budget, the schedule, and the environmental and legal requirements. You carry several projects at once. For each one you select the architecture or engineering firm best suited to the work, give that firm clear direction on goals, standards, site, schedule, and budget, and run the design review to confirm the design meets LAUSD's educational and building standards. You review design changes so projects stay within budget, coordinate review and approval by DSA, the Division of the State Architect, the state office that approves public school construction, and report on planning and design status with your findings and recommendations.
Salary range: $167,000 to $183,000 per year, based on experience.
