Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Architectural Assistant to join our East London studio. You will support the architectural team through design development, drawings, models, and construction documentation, working under experienced mentors.

The ideal candidate holds a degree or diploma in architecture, has CAD experience (AutoCAD; Revit a plus), and is detail-oriented with good communication and teamwork skills. This is a hands-on role with growth potential in SA's vibrant construction sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or National Diploma in Architectural Technology.
• 0-4 years of experience in an architectural office or related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit is a strong advantage.
• Basic understanding of architectural principles and design processes.
• Familiarity with South African building codes and regulations is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist architects and senior staff in developing design concepts and preparing presentation materials.
• Produce architectural drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details using CAD software.
• Support the creation of 3D models and renderings for design visualization.
• Help in the preparation of specification documents and schedules.
• Conduct site visits to gather information and observe construction progress.
• Maintain project files and documentation in an organized manner.
• Coordinate with external consultants and contractors as directed.
• Research building materials, codes, and standards as required for projects.
• Assist with administrative tasks related to project management.
• Contribute to a positive and productive team atmosphere.
