Job summary

TransUnion is seeking a senior cloud infrastructure engineer in Chicago to lead the design and deployment of scalable, secure cloud-native solutions. You will run Kubernetes clusters at scale, implement IaC with Terraform, and drive CI/CD pipelines across teams.

The role emphasizes automation, monitoring, security governance, and mentorship of junior engineers, with telecommuting partially allowed and a strong focus on reliability and performance.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field plus 2 years of experience in software development required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field plus 5 years progressive experience in software development also acceptable.
  • Some telecommuting permitted.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native infrastructures.
  • Design and manage Kubernetes clusters for containerized applications at large scale with high reliability.
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing and deployment.
  • Define and enforce Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate DevOps best practices into the software development life cycle.
  • Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or AWS CloudWatch.
  • Ensure compliance with security and governance policies across cloud and container environments.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to continuously improve DevOps capabilities.
  • Help mentor junior software engineers and promote a culture of automation, reliability, and scalability.

Team Overview

Architects, Software Development for Chicago, IL location. Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native infrastructures. Focus on AWS cloud services, Kubernetes orchestration, and modern DevOps practices, enabling high-performance development and deployment workflows across teams. Architect and implement cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS or GCP Cloud. Design and manage Kubernetes clusters for containerized applications at large scale, 10s of thousands of TPS and 99.999% reliability. Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing and deployment. Define and enforce Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards using Terraform or CloudFormation. Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate DevOps best practices into the software development life cycle. Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or AWS CloudWatch. Ensure compliance with security and governance policies across cloud and container environments. Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to continuously improve DevOps capabilities. Help mentor junior software engineers and promote a culture of automation, reliability, and scalability.

  • The U.S. base salary range for this position is $165,693/yr-$165,693/yr + benefits (www.transunion.com/about-us/careers/life-at-tu).annually.
  • Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan.
