Job summary

Farmer's Fridge is introducing optimization and decision science as its own capability, with you owning the solver and prescriptive layer built atop demand forecasts. You will turn manual planning into mathematically grounded decisions, partnering with data science and planning teams to deploy models in production.

Based in Chicago or willing to relocate, you will lead end-to-end modeling work, write production-quality Python and SQL, and set the discipline's technical standards at FF.

Qualifications

• 4–10 years of experience building decision science or optimization models in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience with mathematical solvers (Gurobi, FICO Xpress, CPLEX, OR-Tools, or similar).
• Strong Python and SQL skills; comfortable picking up additional languages as required.

Responsibilities

• Own the solver stack (Gurobi) — model formulation standards, performance, and validation.
• Take existing route optimization and inventory allocation model from built to rolled out, partnering with planning and ops to define success benchmarks.
• Build new decision models across the supply chain planning process — inventory, production, fulfillment, and network decisions.
• Work in the NextMV platform to develop, test, and deploy optimization models into production.
• Translate ambiguous planning problems into solvable mathematical formulations.
• Communicate model logic and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
