Job summary

Farmer’s Fridge is introducing optimization and decision science as its own capability. The role will own the solver stack (Gurobi) and expand from a live route optimization/inventory model to full production deployment, building new models across supply chain planning.

Qualifications

• 4–10 years of experience building decision science or optimization models in production.
• Hands-on experience with mathematical solvers (Gurobi, Xpress, CPLEX, OR-Tools) and scaling models to production.
• Experience with the NextMV platform or ability to ramp quickly on it.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; comfortable picking up additional languages.
• Experience formulating real business problems as linear/mixed‑integer programs or CSPs.
• Excellent communication to explain model tradeoffs to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Track record as an IC who owns modeling end‑to‑end from formulation to production.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment; this role defines the discipline.
• Familiarity with using AI tools in daily workflow.
• Based in Chicago or willing to relocate; in‑office role.
• Nice to have: supply chain optimization experience; dbt/Snowflake; productionization alongside data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own the solver stack (Gurobi) with standards, performance, and validation.
• Roll out route optimization and inventory allocation model; define success criteria.
• Build new decision models across supply chain planning: inventory, production, fulfillment, network.
• Work in NextMV to develop, test, deploy optimization models.
• Translate planning problems into solvable mathematical formulations.
• Collaborate with data science on model inputs without owning predictive layer.
• Explain model logic and tradeoffs to planning and operations stakeholders.
• Write production‑quality Python and SQL; learn new tools as needed.
• Set the standard for how decision science is built, tested, and documented.
