Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company is seeking an Architect, IS Enterprise Analytics for Sales & Marketing. You will design and govern analytics architectures across domains including Analytics, Trade Promotion Management, and Website Development, aligning with Smucker architecture practices.

Hybrid work with ~25% in-office presence in Orrville OH. You will mentor teams, drive data engineering tool adoption, and steer architecture decisions through design reviews and vendor collaborations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise analytics architecture.
• Proven ability to develop enterprise and solution-level designs for cloud-based and on‑premises systems.
• Deep experience with large cross-functional projects and cloud integrations.
• Strong influence in solution design within the software development lifecycle.
• Knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, or equivalent frameworks is a plus.

Architect, IS Enterprise Analytics, Sales & Marketing

Your Opportunity as the Architect IS Enterprise Analytics Sales & Marketing

Recommends technology solutions by evaluating business needs efficiency and effectiveness of current tech stacks and industry trends. Solves unique and complex problems impacting a domain with a keen understanding of touchpoints with adjacent areas and relationships to business process. Will work with other Architects to build and maintain long‑term application and technology roadmaps for business customer’s domains Analytics Trade Promotion Management Consumer Data and Website Development. Applies Smucker Architecture methodologies to address current business needs and objectives.

Location: Orrville OH (Close proximity to Cleveland/Akron)

Work Arrangements: Hybrid ~25% in office presence

In this role you will:

• Evaluate internalize and implement architectures in accordance with Smucker Architectural best practices and standards. Ensure alignment of solution delivery with domain and enterprise strategy.
• Socialize key concepts with project and product teams. Work with team members to internalize and apply learnings to solution delivery.
• Guide the team on knowing when to invest in tech or focus on delivery (appropriate ROI over strategic horizons).
• Involved with introducing/operationalizing new data engineering tools integrations and application technologies.
• Review existing and upcoming data pipelines or application architectures to ensure automation is utilized where possible.
• Advance the technical discipline through advising other leaders’ fundamental application of DevOps DataOps or MLOps process improvements.
• Drive strategy for the team by investigating technology trends adoption in other companies and within industry.
• Proactively utilize research firms to determine enterprise level cloud/modern applications.
• Participate in vendor provided offerings (courses labs certified architect training or product trainings especially with existing or industry leading cloud or progressive vendors)
• Gain input from other architects on how cloud implementations in their teams impact the current architecture and requires evolution.
• Own creation and maintenance of necessary learning paths for tool adoption/proper usage.
• Mentor others in the architecture domain.

Solution Delivery

Develop architectural designs that support project and enhancement efforts within their domain with a focus on stability feasibility functionality security governance auditing and scalability.

Draft and present High Level Solution Designs to Architecture Review Boards honoring stage gates - facilitating buy‑in pre‑meeting from Enterprise Architecture and affected architects.

Ensure proper adoption of selected solutions.

Apply a holistic view of platform integration and understands interrelationships with adjacent disciplines/functions. Apply advanced techniques and modern IT concepts to solve complex development problems.

Provide high level estimates and staffing requirements for projects in the initiate phase.

Support key business strategy application and technology discussions. Facilitate adoption rationalization and influence future state investments.

Ensure timely disposition of applications and technologies. Regularly validates supportability and timelines of key technology platforms within their domain.

Lead efforts to evaluate new service offerings via RFP's and RFQ's. Influences direction on solution selection.

Create and update architectural models and artifacts for domains. Influence overall team documentation depth & breath.

Coach other team members estimating effort and articulating needs and executing against solution architecture decisions. Rely on professional discretion to influence outcomes and achieve goals.

Develop cost saving model. Challenge new and existing cross‑functional architectural strategies to optimize synergies for cost savings opportunities.

Advise team through the process of solution delivery involving complex and/or newer technologies often requiring research and experimentation to complete.

Partner with external vendors to ensure technology solutions are aligned with internal project goals. Influences external products/technologies.

Identify opportunities for automation.

Actively engaged in IS Strategic Architectural Leadership groups to influence department.

Actively question any High Level Solution Designs provide alternative solutions and point out risks. Distribute architectural learnings to team.

Sought after and leveraged by other architects leverages learning across org drive better solutions across IS department.

Solution Support

Help teams use operational data to improve stability and performance of their domains.

Demonstrate proficiency in systematic debugging to diagnose root cause of issues within a set of related domains.

Drive cross-domain maintenance efforts.

Champion an appropriate release/version strategy.

Serve as an escalation point and consults teams on complex support matters.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in related field specialized training or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of relevant work experience
• Proven experience in developing enterprise and solution level architectural designs
• Deep technical experience with large cross‑functional projects that involve implementing and integrating cloud‑based and on‑premises solutions.
• Proven influence in solution design and decisions within software development lifecycle.
• Awareness and application of various project management and software development methodologies.
• Deep understanding of analytical concepts (dimensions facts normalization joins querying & grouping SQL syntax etc.)
• Data Modeling fundamentals in star schema relational database and normalized data sets.
• Experience with Data Science methodology and model development
• Ability to present complex topics in relatable fashion.
• Knowledge of technical modeling diagramming and presentation tools.
• Demonstrates ability to think critically and conceptually.

Additional Skills and Experience

• Experience with industry frameworks such as ITIL NIST COBIT
• Certifications: AWS Cloud Practitioner/Azure Fundamentals Data Ethics TOGAF and/or equivalent architectural certifications
• Familiarity with Modern IT concepts and cloud-related capabilities (DevOps DataOps MLOps Extensibility Secure By Design etc.).
• Technical background in: SQL: Oracle Database SQL Spark Development Data Science tools R/Python Machine Learning
• Prior experience in CPG MarTech Trade Systems Analytics and/or Enterprise Information Services
