Job summary

Metra is seeking an Architect II to oversee design, construction, and renovation of station and parking facility projects. You will review plans, ensure compliance with guidelines, and manage projects within time and budget while coordinating with in-house staff and consultants.

You will develop cost estimates, manage scopes of work, and monitor quality standards, risk, and safety. Travel within and outside the region may be required, with flexible hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering.
• Two years of Architectural or Civil design experience including project management.
• Good knowledge of planning, architectural/engineering design, procurement and construction projects.
• Knowledge of project management, project controls, and contract administration principles.

Responsibilities

• Participate on project teams as the resident architect reviewing plans for compliance with guidelines and codes.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and recommend solutions to maintain budget and schedule.
• Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to facilitate coordination and communications.
• Prepare and manage project budgets and oversee cost estimates prepared by consultants.
• Participate in contract administration including bids, changes, and payments.
