Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) in Virginia Beach seeks an Architect I - Registered Architect to join our team. This licensed staff role spans from concept through construction, supporting moderate-size projects with minimal supervision.

You will develop drawings and specifications, perform code reviews, and coordinate with engineers and clients. Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, BIM and Office tools is required; travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree from NAAB architecture program.
• 2–6 years of architectural design experience.
• Professional Architect License.
• Proficient with CAD software such as Revit, SketchUp or AutoCAD.
• Proficient understanding of BIM across project types.
• Knowledge of architectural specifications and codes.
• Understanding of Building Programming.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to travel required.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, code-compliant design solutions for projects of moderate size and complexity.
• Prepare drawings and construction documentation per standards and codes.
• Use Revit, Rhino, Enscape, Adobe CC to develop models and visuals.
• Review specifications for alignment with construction documents.
• Write reports and specifications.
• Conduct basic code research to inform design decisions.
• Contribute to client presentation materials.
• Participate in meetings and communicate decisions clearly.
• Support QA/QC, coordination, and project documentation.
