Job summary

Laredo Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an Architect to support NAVFAC EURAFCENT and NSA Bahrain/Naples projects. The role involves planning, estimating, scheduling, and project management with travel to NSA Bahrain.

Strong knowledge of DoD/Navy design standards and coordination across disciplines is required. Primary work location is NSA Naples (Capodichino) with travel as needed. A NCARB‑accredited degree and 5+ years of federal project experience are required; RA is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a NCARB accredited Architectural program or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years of architectural design experience for Federal projects.
  • RA registration desirable.
  • Completion of an NAAB-accredited program in Architecture with a degree (Bachelor or Master) and hands-on facilities design experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide planning, estimating, scheduling, engineering, project management and administrative services with primary work location at NSA Naples (Capodichino).
  • Support NAVFAC EURAFCENT facilities design, MILCON, renovations, and space planning for Navy/DoD facilities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and other disciplines to ensure coordination with project requirements and codes.
  • Provide input on third party designs and ensure compliance with DoD/Navy standards.

Primary duties are to provide planning, estimating, scheduling, engineering, project management and administrative services with a primary work location at NSA Naples (Capodichino) but with temporary travel trips to NSA Bahrain. NSA Bahrain is comprised of four (4) installations known as NSA 1, NSA 2, NSA 3 and Isa Air Base.RESPONSIBILITIES:Be a U.S CitizenHave a valid driver’s licenseEDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor Degree in a National Council of Architectural.Registration Boards (NCARB) accredited Architectural program or approved equivalent experience and minimum of 5 years of architectural design including at least 1 year working on facilities projects for a Federal Agency.Registration as a Registered Architect (RA) is desirable.Minimum of 5 years of professional, architectural code compliant facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience, is required.Completion of a course of studies accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) for an architectural program from a college or university earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture, supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on facilities design experience, is required.Provide timely, professional architectural support, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization and facilities development.Participate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborates with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.Provide input and feedback on third party designs, and recommendations with respect to programming, space planning, concept design, development, sustainable practices and codes compliance assurance to include analysis of furnished drawings and specifications, review of cost estimates and other required services.Provide support to the following facility types: housing; community support facilities (dining hall, clubs, fitness centers, child development centers); medical facilities; education/training facilities; maintenance shops; industrial facilities; hangars; administration buildings; operations buildings (command and control centers); and other shore installation facilities.Broad professional knowledge and skill in architectural concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques necessary to plan, design, manage, construct, preserve, restore, rehab, oversee, and maintain a wide range of shore installation facilities projects.Knowledge and experience in architectural design demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of all phases of architectural design, including architectural programming, space planning, concept design development, sustainable design, design analyses, compliance with codes and standards, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, other required services.Knowledge of DoD and Navy guide specifications, criteria, and policy; the International Building Code; Life Safety Code, industry codes and standards; and standard practices as related to architectural design.Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting architectural design throughout the NAVFAC EURAFCENT area of responsibility (AOR).Knowledge of related architectural and engineering fields and their associated impacts as related to architectural design.Knowledge and experience with Autodesk software, Microsoft Office products, architectural design and analysis software, and other applicable DoD computer systems and software used by the Command.Ability to produce results of analysis in writing; review and consolidate findings of others; and evaluate recommendations and facts.
