Job summary

Laredo Technical Services, Inc. seeks a Structural Engineer to support NAVFAC EURAFCENT with planning, estimating, scheduling, engineering, and project management for facilities at NSA Naples (Capodichino) with occasional travel to NSA Bahrain.

The role requires PE registration in civil engineering (structural), 5+ years of design experience, ABET-accredited education, and the ability to coordinate across disciplines and with DoD/ Navy standards. U.S. citizenship preferred.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) in civil engineering with structural emphasis.
  • ABET-accredited program in civil engineering (B.S./M.S.).
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage projects for DoD/Navy facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structural engineering planning, estimating, scheduling and project management.
  • Deliver independent, timely consulting for Navy, Marine Corps and other commands.
  • Coordinate with architectural and engineering disciplines to ensure system integration.
  • Maintain knowledge of DoD/Navy specs, IBC, ASCE 7 and related standards.
  • Prepare and present design analyses and recommendations.
  • Lead teams and manage budgeting and scheduling for projects.

Primary duties are to provide planning, estimating, scheduling, engineering, project management and administrative services with a primary work location at NSA Naples (Capodichino) but with temporary travel trips to NSA Bahrain. NSA Bahrain is comprised of four (4) installations known as NSA 1, NSA 2, NSA 3 and Isa Air Base.RESPONSIBILITIES:Be a U.S CitizenHave a valid driver’s licenseEDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Registration as Professional Engineer (PE) in the discipline of civil engineering – structural is desirable.Minimum of 5 years of professional civil engineering - structural code compliant facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience, is required.Completion of a course of studies accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineers and Technology (ABET) for a civil engineering program from a college or university for a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering with emphasis in structural engineering, supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on facilities design experience.Provides independent, timely and professional structural engineering support, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization and facilities development.Participate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborates with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.Broad professional knowledge and practical application of civil/structural engineering concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques necessary to plan, design, construct and maintain a wide range of shore-based engineering projects.Knowledge of DoD and Navy guide specifications, criteria, policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices as related to structural engineering design, including the International Building Code, and ASCE 7 (Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures).Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting structural engineering design throughout the NAVFAC EURAFCENT AOR.Knowledge of related architectural and engineering fields and their associated impacts as related to structural engineering design.Ability to produce results of analysis in writing and consolidate findings of others and evaluate recommendations and facts.Ability to make oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies.Knowledge of budgeting, planning and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate the work of others and lead teams.Knowledge of and full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance and use of personal protective equipment.POSITION TIMING: Immediate hire upon contract award and completion of all background and security investigations.BENEFITS: Health, Dental, and Vision, 401(k), Vacation, Sick Leave, and 11 Paid Federal Holidays including:New Year’s DayMartin Luther King, Jr. DayPresidents BirthdayMemorial DayJuneteenthIndependence DayLabor DayColumbus DayVeterans DayThanksgiving DayChristmas DayLaredo Technical Services, Inc.
