Transformative Mentoring Intervention (Reports to Project Coordinator)
Living Redemption Community Development Corporation (LRCDC) is an independent Harlem-based nonprofit, dba Living Redemption Youth Opportunity Hub (LRYOH). Founded in 2019, LRCDC exists to catalyze Central, West, and East Harlem’s homegrown "Credible Messengers," who are part of the broader Credible Messenger and Transformative Mentoring Movement. With a mission to Save Lives and Heal Communities One Relationship at a Time, LRCDC provides Credible Messenger-led mentoring, community outreach, and a holistic continuum of programs and wraparound supports for Harlem’s most vulnerable youth and families and select communities across New York City.
Living Redemption Community Development Corporation is hiring two (2) Part-Time ARCHES Credible Messengers for our ARCHES Transformative Mentoring Intervention program. ARCHES is a curriculum-based group mentoring intervention that helps justice-involved young adults transform the attitudes and behaviors that have led to criminal activity. It serves young people whose needs go far beyond the traditional mentoring approach of companionship, confidence-building and typical academic, social or career guidance. The overarching goal the Department of Probation (DOP) seeks to accomplish is to help young adults on probation end any further involvement with the criminal justice system. ARCHES is designed to meet young people where they are in this process of prosocial engagement, focusing on changes in cognition and thinking that often precede the ability to secure concrete attainments in education and employment. Through ARCHES, the DOP seeks to lower the rates of recidivism for young adults by five to ten percent.
ARCHES Credible Messenger mentors will be engaging participants through groups and one-on-one mentoring using the Interactive Journaling curriculum. Through these interactions, and through the use of Interactive Journaling, the Credible Messenger mentors will develop meaningful supportive relationships, which seek to guide the young adults toward positive and productive futures. ARCHES Credible Messenger mentors will be expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:
Position: Part-Time
Hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Compensation: $16.50/Hour
Location: 302 W. 124th Street, New York, NY 10027
Note: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete an employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. Only applicants under consideration will be contacted.
Closing Date: Open until filled; to be filled as soon as possible.
