Job summary

Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation seeks an Archaeologist I for Nespelem, WA to perform CRM fieldwork, document sites, and assist with report preparation. The role involves field crews, GPS/GIS tasks, and data support within the History and Archaeology Program.

The position may supervise staff, requires travel, physical outdoor work, and adherence to tribal policies including confidentiality and safety testing.

Qualifications

• Requires a BA in Anthropology, Archaeology, American History, or Native American Studies with archaeology focus.
• 24 months of archaeological field work experience with 6 months as crew chief; exceptional experience can substitute education.
• Valid State Driver’s license and tribal vehicle insurance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Conducts fieldwork (survey/inventory, evaluative testing, mitigation) on CRM projects.
• Documents archaeological sites from field to report preparation.
• Performs GPS and GIS tasks; supports data analysis and graphic report work.
• May serve as Crew Chief and train less experienced staff.
