Job Description

We are looking for Archaeological Technicians to join Terracon to facilitate ongoing and future archaeological projects. This is a “as needed” position. Qualified candidates will help augment our teams in the southeast but may have the opportunity to assist with additional work with Terracon Archaeology Groups across the country.

We are looking for Archaeological Technicians to join Terracon to facilitate ongoing and future archaeological projects. This is a “as needed” position. Qualified candidates will help augment our teams in the southeast but may have the opportunity to assist with additional work with Terracon Archaeology Groups across the country.

General Responsibilities

Provide archaeological support which may include archaeological surveys, testing, or excavations, and corresponding documentation. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles And Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Responsible for assisting with archaeological fieldwork, such as survey, excavation, artifact collection and basic documentation.
  • Conduct archaeological surveys or excavations using commonly accepted archaeological tools and methods under the supervision of a Crew Chief or higher.
  • Identify artifacts and basic stratigraphy, recording information on standardized forms.
  • Assist more senior staff with other tasks as needed.
  • Communicate basic information to Crew Chief or Archaeologist.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred:

  • At least one year of professional CRM archaeological experience in the southeastern United States.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time.
  • At least six months professional archaeological experience (CRM).
  • Basic knowledge of artifact identification, soils, and stratigraphy.
  • Ability to adequately document field work on standard field forms.
  • Ability to work and communicate with others in various environmental settings.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using both written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task within flexible/fluid schedules and project needs.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and walking on uneven surfaces carrying at least 20 lbs. of equipment, and ability to work in extreme (hot/cold) weather conditions.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Possession of a U.S. driver’s license, with acceptable violation history..
