Job summary

Dewberry Engineers Incorporated in Richmond, VA seeks Archaeological Field Technicians for upcoming projects along the east coast, weather dependent. This role involves field surveys, excavation support and artifact identification under supervision.

Candidates should have field school, a Bachelor's in anthropology/archaeology, be able to hike rugged terrain, lift up to 40 lbs, and work as part of a team; hourly pay depends on experience.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an archaeological field school.
  • Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology or related field.
  • Physical requirements: standing or kneeling for long periods, hiking in rugged terrain, and carrying up to 40 lbs of gear.
  • This project requires prior experience with GPS units in the field and traversing topographically challenging terrain to conduct a surface archaeological survey.
  • Knowledge of precontact archaeological material is preferred.
  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions and be able to work under supervision and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience with all phases of excavation and artifact identification is a plus.
  • Hourly pay will depend upon archaeological experience.

Salary Range

The projected rate for this position is $20.00 to $25.00 hourly. Depending upon other factors, e.g., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for Richmond, VA only.
