Job summary

Sundance Consultants, part of True Environmental, is seeking an on-call Temporary field technician for archaeological fieldwork across the Western United States. The role is based in Boise, Pocatello, Bend, and Twin Falls, with pay between $20-25/hour based on experience.

Responsibilities include pedestrian surveys, data collection, subsurface testing, artifact identification, and detailed field notes. Travel, outdoor work, and strict safety protocols apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
• At least 6 months of archaeological field experience or field school experience.
• Ability to hike long distances (5–10 miles per day) in diverse terrain.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; team-oriented.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to operate GPS units and navigate maps.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather.
• Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as required, with exemptions if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological pedestrian surveys.
• Collect data: GPS, photos, site forms, sketches.
• Perform subsurface testing and artifact identification.
• Record measurements and document artifacts carefully.
• Prepare high-quality field notes and reports.
• Work solo or as part of a team as needed.
• Adhere to safety standards and project directions.
