BGE, Inc. is a nationwide consulting firm that provides services in civil engineering, planning, landscape architecture, construction management, survey and environmental services for public and private clients.

Job Description

  1. Lead field efforts according to state and Federal historic preservation guidelines including reconnaissance surveys, terrestrial surveys augmented by shovel testing, site documentation and recordation, and monitoring.
  2. Perform overland navigation using compass and tape, in addition to orienteering through interpretation of USGS topographic maps and aerial photographic imagery.
  3. Complete and submit requisite field paperwork: daily journals, vehicle mileage forms, transect shovel test forms, site shovel test forms, and state-level site and feature forms; field site sketch maps and feature profiles, perform photo documentation and complete photo logs, etc.
  4. Assist with preparation and duplication of detailed field paperwork. These include but are not limited to daily journals, vehicle mileage forms, daily safety meeting forms, accident/incident forms, site and feature forms, transect shovel test forms, site shovel test forms, field sketch maps, photo logs, etc.
  5. Collect all field data daily and conduct QA/QC of all field forms submitted by crew members.
  6. Possess familiarity with state-level requirements for field surveys and/or monitoring. Regional experience specific to Louisiana and Texas with an understanding of CTA and LDA requirements preferred.
  7. Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with supervisors, project-related field personnel, clients, landowners, and crew members as appropriate.
  8. Ability to accurately record field data without assistance from other employees.
  9. Must be detail oriented, highly organized, and utilize effective time management.
  10. Demonstrate competence with Excel or similar software to organize data, equipment, field personnel, etc.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archeology, or closely related field.
  2. Master’s degree preferred.
  3. 5+ years documented experience in CRM or archeological field experience.
  4. Minimum of 2 years documented field supervisory experience preferred.
  5. Experience in pipeline, utility transmission, petrochemical exploration projects (highly preferred).
  6. CPR certification required.
  7. First Aid and First Aid for Wilderness Professionals certification preferred.
  8. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.
