Job Description

• Lead field efforts according to state and Federal historic preservation guidelines, including reconnaissance surveys, terrestrial surveys with shovel testing, site documentation and recordation, and monitoring.
• Perform overland navigation using compass and tape, interpreting USGS topographic maps and aerial photographic imagery.
• Complete and submit field paperwork such as daily journals, vehicle mileage forms, transect shovel test forms, site shovel test forms, site and feature forms, field site sketch maps, photo documentation, and photo logs.
• Assist with preparing and duplicating detailed field paperwork, including safety and incident reports.
• Collect and conduct QA/QC of all field data and forms submitted by crew members daily.
• Familiarity with state-level requirements for field surveys and monitoring, especially regional experience in Louisiana and Texas, including CTA and LDA requirements.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with supervisors, project personnel, clients, landowners, and crew members.
• Accurately record field data independently.
• Be detail-oriented, highly organized, and manage time effectively.
• Proficiency in Excel or similar software for data organization and management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of documented experience in CRM or archaeological fieldwork.
• At least 2 years of documented field supervisory experience.
• Experience in pipeline, utility transmission, or petrochemical exploration projects is highly desirable.
• CPR certification required.
• First Aid and Wilderness First Aid certifications required.
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
