Job summary
The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an Arborist Trainee Intern for the Morris Plains, NJ area. This field-based internship runs Spring–Summer 2027 with 40–50 hours per week, Monday–Friday and some Saturdays, at a pay rate of $22–$23 per hour.
Interns will work alongside seasoned Arborists, Climbers, and Plant Health Care staff, gaining hands-on experience in pruning, cabling, installation, and safety protocols while being introduced to Davey’s four service lines and nationwide career
Qualifications
- Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline.
- Driver’s license required; CDL a plus.
Responsibilities
- Learn to be a tree health professional in field with experienced Arborists and Landscape professionals.
- Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance.
- Support Tree & Landscape Installation and safe operation of equipment.
- Assist Plant Health Care tasks including deep root fertilization and soil care.
- Gain exposure to daily operations and business components of a residential tree care office.
- Develop client service, sales, management and leadership fundamentals.
