Job summary

The City of Fargo is seeking an Arborist I to perform skilled tree care along streets, parks, and municipal properties. Under supervision, you will prune, plant, spray, and remove trees using equipment such as aerial lifts and chippers, emphasizing safety and efficiency.

You will lead and train seasonal workers, coordinate with the Arborist Supervisor, and ensure compliance with public works policies while working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 2+ years' tree-care experience.
• ISA Arborist Certification and Electrical Line Clearance within 1 year of hire.
• CDL with endorsements; CPR/First Aid certified.

Responsibilities

• Prune trees with aerial lift, rope & saddle to remove hazards and preserve health.
• Remove trees and stumps following safety procedures.
• Plant, transplant, mulch, water, and care for trees; apply fertilizers and sprays.
• Inspect equipment daily for safe operation and report issues.
• Lead seasonal workers and provide training as needed.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor, colleagues, and public.
• Perform duties safely, wearing PPE and following city rules.
• Assist other departments with machinery when required.
