Job summary

City and County of Denver is seeking an Arborist Technician I to support Denver’s urban forest. duties include pruning, planting, transplanting, and tree health care, using rope and saddle, with extensive equipment operation.

You will inspect trees for diseases, apply pesticides, and maintain records while adhering to safety standards and city guidelines. Position requires CDL-B, EHAP/First Aid, and ISA/Aerial Lift certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of tree identification and pruning experience.
• Valid Driver's License at application and CDL-B with endorsements by end of probation.
• EHAP, First Aid/CPR certifications required by end of probation; ISA Tree Worker Climber Specialist or Aerial Lift Specialist within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Prune dead, diseased, or broken limbs from trees using rope, saddle, and hand tools.
• Perform plant health care duties and disease/insect identification and control.
• Inspect for tree diseases and insects, distinguish biotic vs abiotic stress in Denver area.
• Operate a wide range of heavy equipment (aerial tower, log loaders, cranes, trucks, stump grinders, chippers).
• Ensure proper pesticide preparation and application with appropriate equipment.
• Maintain safety, traffic control, and daily activity records; take samples for lab analysis.
