Bartlett Tree Experts in Northampton, MA is seeking an Arborist Ground Person to join our field team. This entry-level role offers hands-on training in pruning, rigging, removals, and equipment operation while working on commercial and residential properties.

You will learn safety procedures, contribute to a safety-first culture, and have opportunities for advancement as you gain credentials through Bartlett's training programs.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position offering hands-on training in arboriculture on commercial and residential properties.
• Learning to safely prune, rig, cabling/bracing, and remove hazardous trees while operating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow safety procedures and company safety policies.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on ground and aloft.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
• Maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.

As an Arborist Ground Person, you will play an important role in

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including
  
  
  
  • Pruning trees
  
  
  • Rigging
  
  
  • Cabling and bracing
  
  
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  
  
  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
  
  
  • Implementing work zone safety procedures
  
  
  • Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
  
  
  • Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
  
  
  
  


• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies


• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors


• Interest in working outdoors year-round performing manual labor in all weather conditions


• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team


• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required


• Valid driver's license


• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred but not required
