Bartlett Tree Experts in Billerica, MA is seeking an Arborist Ground Person to join a tree care crew. You will gain hands-on training in pruning, rigging, removals, and operating equipment on commercial and residential properties in a safety-focused environment.

This entry-level role offers on-the-job learning, advancement from within, and access to company training and research resources; a valid driver's license and willingness to work outdoors year-round are required.

Qualifications

• Pass criminal background check.
• Willing to perform manual labor outdoors in all weather.
• Interest in learning arboriculture techniques.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Degree preferred or experience in tree care industry.

Responsibilities

• Learn on-the-job to perform all aspects of arboriculture.
• Pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing.
• Removals and operating ground equipment.
• Maintain safe work zones and follow safety policies.
• Assist climbers and crew leaders as needed.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.

Responsibilities

As an Arborist Ground Person, you will play an important role in:

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:

  • Rigging
  
  
  • Cabling and bracing
  
  
  • Removals
  
  
  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
  
  
  • Implementing work zone safety procedures
  
  
  • Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
  
  
  • Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
  
  
  
  


• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies

Qualifications

• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors


• Ability to pass a criminal background check


• Interest in working outdoors year-round performing manual labor in all weather conditions


• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team


• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required


• Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record


• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field OR prior experience working in the tree care industry is preferred but not required
