Job summary

The City of Lansing is seeking an Arborist‑Forestry Worker to join the Public Service Department's Operations and Maintenance Division. This role involves outdoor tree care, pruning, planting, and hazard diagnosis to maintain city trees and respond to storm events.

CDL required and certifications may be needed for elevated work. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and several years of tree maintenance experience, with leadership skills preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Three years of experience in all phases of tree maintenance including climbing with rope, saddle and spurs.
• Experience supervising or leading a crew is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform tree removal, pruning, planting, cabling, fertilizing and pest control.
• Diagnose hazards and recommend corrective action.
• Supervise and inspect work to ensure safety and efficiency.
