• Active California State Bar member.
• 4+ years in employment litigation, including wage/hour, class action, PAGA and arbitration.

Responsibilities

Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Arbitration Team Lead Attorney to join a rapidly growing plaintiff-side employment litigation practice. This senior-level opportunity is ideal for an attorney with extensive experience handling mass arbitrations, wage and hour disputes, and California employment litigation, along with the leadership skills necessary to oversee a team of attorneys and manage a high-volume arbitration caseload.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of California employment law, substantial hands-on arbitration experience, and the ability to lead litigation teams, develop case strategies, and improve departmental efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of attorneys handling high-volume mass arbitration matters, primarily involving wage and hour violations.
• Oversee arbitration cases from initial intake through discovery, settlement negotiations, and final hearings.
• Develop litigation strategies involving California Labor Code violations, wage and hour claims, retaliation, wrongful termination, and PAGA.
• Review and oversee arbitration demands, motions, discovery responses, legal briefs, and settlement agreements.
• Mentor junior attorneys, delegate assignments, monitor team performance, and ensure high-quality legal work.
• Manage compliance with AAA and JAMS arbitration rules, including mass arbitration and batch filing protocols.
• Develop and optimize workflows, templates, and case management systems to improve efficiency across large arbitration caseloads.
• Collaborate with intake, pre-litigation, and operations teams to ensure seamless case transitions and readiness.
• Participate in strategic case evaluations, settlement negotiations, and arbitration hearings as needed.

Qualifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• 4+ years of employment litigation experience, including significant exposure to wage and hour, class action, PAGA, and arbitration matters.
• Substantial hands-on experience managing high-volume or mass arbitrations from intake through resolution.
• Strong knowledge of AAA and JAMS arbitration procedures, particularly mass arbitration protocols.
• Comprehensive understanding of California wage and hour laws and employee rights.
• Prior experience supervising attorneys, managing junior associates, or leading litigation teams strongly preferred.
• Excellent legal writing, advocacy, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to oversee multiple cases, manage competing deadlines, and maintain high-quality work product.
• Strong leadership abilities and a proactive, collaborative approach to litigation management.
• Competitive base salary of $170,000–$300,000, depending on experience.
