Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a bilingual medical interpreter to facilitate communication between clinicians and Spanish-speaking patients in outpatient and inpatient settings. The role involves interpreting in person or by phone, coordinating with staff, and ensuring accurate medical terminology interpretation.

Candidates should have interpreter program certification (national certification preferred) and at least one year of healthcare interpreting experience.

Formación

• Bi-lingual (oral and written) bi-cultural skills.
• Medical interpreting skills, including accuracy and memory.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Satisfactory fluency in English and target language(s) at a level ensuring accurate interpretation.

Responsabilidades

• Provide medical interpreting between clinician and patient during face-to-face or telephone encounters.
• Act as a liaison between patients and staff.
• Inform clinicians about cultural considerations when treating Spanish-speaking patients.
• Interpret for ancillary departments and between non-clinical staff and patients as needed.
• Support and coverage for the Interpreter Services Coordinator as needed.
• Edit translated materials and identify areas to better meet Spanish-speaking patients' needs.
• Explain interpreter model to clinicians and patients and assist with training staff interpreters.
