Job summary

Homestead Affordable Housing Inc is seeking an Accounts Receivable & Property Accounting Specialist to manage tenant and owner ledgers, process payments, and support monthly close. This role collaborates with property management and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely collections.

The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills, knowledge of basic accounting, and experience with property management software, with attention to detail and discretion handling confidential

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; accounting coursework preferred.
• Experience in accounts receivable, bookkeeping, accounting, or PM preferred.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and AR procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software.
• Experience with property management or accounting software preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Monitor accounts receivable balances and outstanding invoices.
• Receive, process, and record tenant, resident, and other payments accurately.
• Maintain accurate accounts receivable ledgers and customer account records in QuickBooks Accounting Software.
• Apply payments, credits, adjustments, and charges to the appropriate accounts.
• Reconcile payment records and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare and distribute account statements, invoices, and payment reminders as needed.
• Monitor past-due balances and follow up on delinquent accounts.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, property owners, vendors, and internal staff regarding billing and payment questions.
• Maintain organized documentation of payments, adjustments, and collection activities.
• Assist with maintaining accurate financial records for assigned properties.
