Job summary

Schupan & Sons in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support the Electronics Recycling division. You will handle invoicing, AR, collections, and monthly reporting to support the month-end close.

Collaboration with Operations and Finance is essential to deliver accurate financial information and strong customer service. The role requires 1–2 years of related experience, an associate's degree or equivalent, and proficiency in Excel; familiarity with RIMAS/Razor is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent education and experience.
• 1–2 years of related experience and/or training.
• Accounts receivable, billing, or collections experience preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing or recycling environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with RIMAS and Razor a plus (training provided).
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, particularly during month-end close.
• Strong attention to detail; effective oral and written communication.
• Excellent customer service skills; ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Ability to solve practical problems and collaborate with plant operations personnel.

Responsibilities

• Process customer invoices and summary reports.
• Process settlements for adjustments to original customer invoices or orders.
• Enter purchases for accounts payable processing.
• Provide customer support for invoicing, accounts, reporting, banking, and related needs.
• Assist with setup and maintenance of customer accounts.
• Manage accounts receivable collections and follow-up activities.
• Investigate accounts receivable short payments and cash applications.
• Work with Operations on reporting, pricing, and other data needs.
• Prepare the weekly AR Aging report to monitor outstanding balances and prioritize collection efforts.
• Prepare the Month-End Inventory and Inventory Received reports and provide the results to the Assistant Controller for month-end close.
• Record all Shopify transactions.
• Coordinate with Finance to close month end on schedule.
