The YMCA of Central Ohio is seeking an Aquatics Training Specialist to lead and support high-quality aquatic safety and training programs across our 12 locations. This role is responsible for executing audits to ensure safety protocols meet exceptional standards and conducting in-service trainings and certification courses (YMCA and American Red Cross).
This individual will maintain compliance with safety regulations and uphold the highest standards in aquatics operations. Frequent travel between locations is expected to support training and maintain consistency in safety practices. - Thinks, communicates, and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
- Schedules, executes, and evaluates monthly branch in-services; provides feedback and continued training if necessary.
- Conducts certification courses in both YMCA and American Red Cross courses as needed.
- Reports all concerns immediately to the Association Executive Director of Aquatics / Branch Executive Director related to aquatics and facility safety.
- Works with the Association Executive Director of Aquatics to mentor Aquatics Experience Directors who are either new into their position or need additional guidance to ensure they are meeting all standards set forth by the YMCA of Central Ohio in aquatics operations (assigned as needed).
- Maintains a growing working knowledge of the subject area and trends to provide effective information and support.
- Maintains any and all professional credentials or certifications as required by governing bodies aligned with the subject matter being delivered.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in recreation, aquatics, social sciences, or a related field, and two years experience working in an aquatics environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
- Training Requirements:
- Immediately upon hire: American Red Cross Lifeguard & Instructor, First Aid & CPR for Professional Rescuer; AED, O2, and state-mandated concussion training
- Within 6 months of hire : YSL,
Within 1 year of hire : CPO certification
