The purpose of this position is to coordinate aquatics classes and activities for all age groups, interests, and abilities under the general supervision of the Aquatics Manager. This position also serves as the primary HR liaison for new employees and recruiting efforts, and supports other divisions as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience (Required):
- Current Lifeguard certification is required.
- Water Safety Instructor certification is required or must be able to obtain within three months of employment.
- A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certificate is required or must be able to obtain within three months.
- Lifeguard Instructor certification is required or must be able to obtain within six months.
Preferred:
- Water Safety Instructor Trainer preferred.
- Lifeguard Instructor Trainer preferred.
Background Requirements:
Candidates offered a position must successfully complete the following:
- A comprehensive criminal background check.
- Successful completion of a drug/alcohol test. This position will be subject to random testing throughout the duration of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge and skill in performing water rescue techniques, first aid, and CPR on all persons.
- Knowledge of aquatic programming and pool codes
- Advanced knowledge and skills in planning and conducting lifeguard training classes.
- Advanced ability to swim and perform rescue operations.
- Ability to lift and carry persons while performing rescue operations.
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, push, pull, and stoop while performing duties at the aquatics center.
- Ability to perform duties required or necessary for lifeguarding.
- Advanced skill in interpersonal communication and conflict resolution.
- Advanced skill in the de-escalation of sensitive or aggressive customer/vendor/citizen issues.
- Advanced skill in analyzing data, identifying trends and creating actionable data strategies.
- Strong project management skills and experience with project management methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to simultaneously coordinate multiple tasks and priorities and support multiple individuals, teams, and work groups.
