Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks an Aquatics Coordinator to support the Aquatics Director, supervise staff, maintain pool operations, and deliver safe lifeguard services and swimming instruction. Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard.
• Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification or American Red Cross WSI (must crossover to YMCA within 6 months).
• Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (must crossover to YMCA in 6 months).
• Lifeguard Instructor certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Aquatics Director in staffing and shift scheduling, and respond to inquiries within 24 hours.
• Assist in implementing new aquatics programs.
• Maintain pump room operations, chemical levels, water clarity, and tank safety.
• Ensure proper functioning of pool equipment; perform tests and maintenance.
• Supervise Aquatic Staff in the absence of the Aquatic Director.
• Conduct lifeguard drills and ensure patron-to-lifeguard ratios.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate aquatic programs for a diverse membership.
• Lead branch special events and participate in YMCA clusters/committees.
