Job summary

YMCA in San Diego is seeking a Head Lifeguard to oversee aquatic operations, ensure safety, and provide excellent member service. Part-time schedule requires availability on at least 2 weekdays and 1 weekend day (5am-9am or 5pm-9pm).

The role requires current lifeguard training (YMCA/ARC), First Aid for Public Safety Personnel, CPR PRO/AED, O2, and CPO certification, with supervision responsibilities in the absence of management.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Minimum 2 years’ lifeguard experience.
• Current YMCA/ARC Lifeguard Training or compatible certification.
• Current First Aid for Public Safety Personnel from accepted providers.
• Current CPR PRO/AED certification from accepted providers.
• Current O2 certification from accepted providers.
• CPO certification due within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Practice preventive lifeguard techniques and maintain full view of the area of responsibility.
• Perform rescues and administer First Aid, CPR, AED, or O2 as needed.
• Report facility hazards and incidents to Aquatic Director/Coordinator.
• Monitor pool safety, chemical levels, water clarity, and equipment.
• Supervise Aquatic Staff in the absence of supervisory leadership.
• Interact professionally with members and participants and resolve issues.
• Attend to emergencies with swift, decisive action.
