Job summary

The Aquatics Program Manager oversees the coordination, supervision, and operation of the City of Shawnee's municipal pools and splash pads. This full-time exempt role supervises staff and ensures safety, licenses, and budgets are met.

The position also plans recreational programming and collaborates with partners for events. Responsibilities include training lifeguards, maintaining facilities, coordinating schedules, and managing public relations to keep the community informed about aquatic

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Leisure Management or related field.
  • 5–7 years of related work experience.
  • AFO and CPO certifications are required.
  • Lifeguard Instructor Trainer license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates aquatic staff. Ensures certifications are valid and up-to-date.
  • Directs and oversees all operational aspects of the pools and splash pads, including schedules, budgets, and licenses.
  • Directs planning, promotion, and implementation of programs, activities, and events; recruits instructors.
  • Plans and executes facility maintenance for the Aquatics Division and coordinates with maintenance staff.
  • Maintains public relations and communicates aquatic information to the public; coordinates with Parks & Recreation marketing.
